It is the mission of the Streets Division to provide safe, reliable streets and roads for residents and businesses.
Responsibilities
The City of Kechi is responsible for 40 miles of paved and unpaved roads. The Public Works Department repairs pot holes, cracks in city streets and roads, and fixes speed limit and stop signs throughout the city. The Department is also tasked with the grading of and the placement of rock and sand on dirt roads.
Street Sweeping
The City contracts with a private company for street sweeping services approximately four times a year. Residents are encouraged to keep limbs near streets trimmed, move vehicles, basketball hoops, and trash bins away from the curb. Streets will also be swept after each event that sand and salt are applied to the roads.
Winter Street Cleaning
During the winter months City crews push snow off roads and streets. The City also applies salt and sand before and during snow and ice events. So, removal of vehicles, basketball hoops, and trash bins on the streets is critical in the removal of snow and the application of salt and sand.
